Following his debut sell-out solo show in January 2015, visual artist Nick Smith returned to London’s Lawrence Alkin Gallery with a new body of work inspired by erotic literature.
Marking 400 years since Shakespeare’s death, Paramour employed Nick Smith’s signature ‘colour-chip’ methodology, combining modern nudes with excerpts from the Bards’ sonnets and plays.
As well as Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and Venus and Adonis, the works featured racy text from works by DH Lawrence, John Cleland, EM Berens and Sarah Walters.
Exploring lust, love and appreciation of the female form, Paramour brught classic literature to the modern conscience, telling stories of illicit love through evocative imagery.
This Is Publicity carried out PR and social media activity for the show.
Objectives: Encourage sales of the new artworks and built Nick Smith’s profile.
Results: We secured 32 pieces of coverage in art, design and London press including: Art Week, Visit London, Vice, Design Taxi, Creative Boom, VNA, Digital Art, Creative Boom to name but a few.
